Children's Privacy Notice for parents

What ayyayo collects from children aged 9 to 13, how parental consent works, and your rights as a parent.

Effective date: [date]. ayyayo is made for children aged 9 to 13. This notice is for their parents and guardians. It is written to meet DPDP, which treats everyone under 18 as a child and requires verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian; COPPA, which requires verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information from children under 13; and GDPR, under which a parent must consent for children below the age set by each country (between 13 and 16, and 13 in the UK).

Parental consent comes first

A child cannot use the app until a parent or lawful guardian has given verifiable consent. [the consent method used, for example how the parent's identity and age are verified, and what a school does and does not do in this process]

What we collect from your child

  • Nickname, age and language.
  • Lesson answers as text: what they asked for, their prediction, corrections, mastery-check answer and the rule in their own words.
  • Creations they keep or publish.
  • Messages typed into talking characters in published creations, which pass a safety check and are sent to the model that writes replies.

What we never collect or keep

  • Voice recordings. Speech is streamed to the voice model during a session and not saved by ayyayo.
  • Real names, addresses, schools, phone numbers or photos. The app asks children not to share them and blocks site names that look like real names or phone numbers.
  • Data for advertising, tracking or behavioural monitoring.

Publishing

Creations are private unless your child publishes one. A published creation can be opened by anyone with its link, is marked so search engines do not list it, and contains no profile information. You can ask us to unpublish or delete any creation.

Your rights as a parent

  • Review the personal data we hold about your child.
  • Have it corrected or deleted.
  • Refuse further collection, or withdraw consent, at any time. Your child will then no longer be able to use the app.

Write to [privacy contact email]. We may ask you to confirm you are the parent before acting.

Who processes the data

The providers listed in the Privacy Policy. We do not allow them to use children's data for their own purposes. [confirm contract terms with each provider]
