FAQ
The hard questions, answered directly.
Isn't this just more screen time?
It is screen time, and we would rather say so. A lesson is short, and the screen is there so your child can see whether what they asked for is what they got. The work is talking and deciding, not scrolling.
Free Build, the open-ended part, opens only after the day's lesson is done, so the app does not reward endless use.
Won't the AI do the thinking for my child?
That is the failure we designed against. ayyayo never hands your child an answer to copy. It builds what they ask for, then asks them what it had to guess, makes them decide each guess, and checks whether they can spot the gaps in someone else's request.
The lesson cannot be completed by tapping through. It needs a prediction, corrections, a passed check and the rule explained in the child's own words.
If my child talks instead of typing, what happens to their writing?
ayyayo is not a writing course, and it does not replace one. What it practises is the part of writing that comes before the words: knowing exactly what you mean and saying all of it. A child who learns to notice what they left out of a request is practising the same thing a good writer does when they revise.
Children can also type every answer if they prefer.
How do you know it works?
We don't yet, and we won't claim to. We are measuring ayyayo in pilots, starting with the counts the lesson already records, such as how many guesses a child has to fix in round one versus round two, and whether they pass the mastery check. We will publish the results, including what doesn't work.
Other AI schools report big gains. Why don't you?
Because we have nothing measured to report. Results from a small group of families who chose a product are easy to over-read: those families differ from everyone else in ways that affect results on their own. When we publish pilot results, we will say who took part and how they were chosen.
Does ayyayo replace teachers or school?
No. It teaches one specific skill, directing an AI and checking what it makes, in short lessons. It runs without a teacher so it doesn't add to a teacher's day, but it is not a school and doesn't teach academic subjects.
My child needs extra help with something. Will ayyayo tell me not to get it?
No. ayyayo is not a reading, maths or writing programme. If your child needs help with those, get it. Nothing in ayyayo is meant to stand in for that.
What happens to my child's data?
We keep a nickname, an age, a language, your child's lesson answers as text, and the creations they keep. We never store recordings of their voice. Published creations are hidden from search engines.
The details are on the safety and privacy page and in the Children's Privacy Notice.
Which languages does it work in?
The ones Google supports for the voice model ayyayo uses: 24 options, including Tamil, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Arabic, Spanish and English. The voice, the games and the buttons follow the language in your child's profile. The full list is on the parents page. The button text in languages other than English is machine-translated for now.
What does it cost?
Nothing during the pilot.
Is it only for children who like coding or business?
No coding is involved. Children describe games, stories and quizzes in ordinary language. The skill is saying precisely what you mean and checking the result, which is useful whatever a child is interested in.
